ARTS IN EDUCATION

To celebrate the month of Student's Day and Teacher's Day, we share with you the educational programs we are currently working on at the Pablo Atchugarry Foundation.

The Pablo Atchugarry Foundation has been promoting the arts in a free and inclusive way for more than 15 years. Since its beginnings, with the certainty that art is a fundamental pillar for growth and coexistence, we carry out activities with students and teachers from all over the country. Among the programs we carry out are "Escuelas al Parque" with elementary schools and "Jóvenes Creadores" with high schools. In addition, we collaborate with universities in the country in different activities and we carry out guided visits to schools, both public and private, throughout the year in our Foundation.

Schools in the Park

The project was born in 2010, from the idea of linking the children of the schools in the area with the institution. In the beginning, we conducted ceramics, drawing and painting classes with different artists and referents of the region. Given the growing interest of both the schools and the Foundation, the "Schools to the Park" program was created to reach all the children of the Maldonado department through a pedagogical and playful experience. Today, the program has grown and includes students and teachers from all over the country, from public and private schools, special schools and other institutions such as the Hemovida Foundation, which joins the call, and the Municipality of Maldonado, which provides transportation for children with motor difficulties.

Every week we receive four to six groups of school children who are invited to experience art through a route designed especially for them. The tour is based on artistic themes and includes stories and slogans that are enriched by their contributions and perspectives. Thus, it is proposed to strengthen reflective learning, developing new connections and giving rise to critical thinking.

It is a journey through the ideas and emotions provoked by the works of art exhibited at the Sculpture Park. The concepts of similarity, difference, perspective and points of view are addressed.
