El Museo de Arte Contemporáneo Atchugarry (MACA) presenta Tres caminos, un horizonte, una exposición que reúne obras de Julian Lennon, Eva Claessens y Pablo Atchugarry. La muestra incluye fotografía, pintura y escultura, y propone un recorrido por las obras más recientes de los artistas.
Las tres obras de arte que aparecen en la invitación están conectadas visualmente; cada imagen es un detalle extraído de una pieza incluida en la exposición.
El título, y el diálogo entre las obras, transmite un mensaje positivo, profundo y ligero. Resulta especialmente significativo en el mundo actual, en el que las conexiones genuinas son cada vez más escasas.
Las obras seleccionadas incluyen paisajes fotográficos de Uruguay tomados por Julian Lennon, pinturas y esculturas de Eva Claessens centradas en la figura humana, la conexión y la relación entre el yo y su entorno, y esculturas de Pablo Atchugarry en múltiples materiales. Presentadas juntas en una misma sala, las piezas ofrecen un panorama de tres enfoques artísticos contemporáneos moldeados en diferentes contextos y trayectorias

Julian Lennon (Liverpool, 1963) es un artista multidisciplinar cuyo campo de trabajo abarca la fotografía, la música, el cine documental y la filantropía. Su incursión en la fotografía tuvo un comienzo formal en 2010 con la exposición Timeless en Nueva York, seguida de muestras en Estados Unidos, Europa, Asia y Oriente Medio. Su colección explora la relación entre la naturaleza, la luz y la vida, con un enfoque contemplativo y humanista. Su libro, Life’s Fragile Moments (2024), consolidó su producción fotográfica con más de 200 imágenes tomadas durante los últimos 17 años.
En 2007, fundó The White Feather Foundation, una organización dedicada a la educación, la salud, la conservación del medio ambiente, el acceso al agua potable y la protección de las culturas indígenas. Ha sido reconocido por la UNESCO como Laureado de la Paz (2020).

Eva Claessens (Amberes, 1971) es una artista visual cuya práctica incluye pintura, escultura, cerámica y obra gráfica. Formada en la Scuola delle Belle Arti de Perugia, ha desarrollado un lenguaje artístico distintivo centrado en la conexión y la relación entre el yo y su entorno, a menudo expresado a través de la figura humana. Su obra captura emociones fugaces —momentos suspendidos en el tiempo— en los que la intimidad y la presencia cobran forma.
La práctica de Claessens se caracteriza por la búsqueda de la espontaneidad, la ligereza y lo inacabado. Sus obras invitan al espectador a compartir un espacio de interpretación, dejando espacio para que el gesto se complete a través de la percepción y la emoción.
Con una trayectoria que incluye exposiciones en todo el mundo, Claessens comienza cada pieza mediante la observación de modelos de la vida real. Actualmente divide su tiempo entre Uruguay y diferentes países, manteniendo una práctica activa y en evolución a través de múltiples medios.
Pablo Atchugarry (Montevideo, 1954) es uno de los escultores más relevantes del arte contemporáneo latinoamericano. Desde los años setenta ha desarrollado una obra centrada en la materia, la luz y el movimiento, con especial dedicación al mármol de Carrara. Sus esculturas —que van desde piezas de escala íntima hasta obras monumentales— integran colecciones públicas y privadas en Europa, América y Asia.
En 2002 recibió el Premio Michelangelo en Carrara; en 2003 representó a Uruguay en la Bienal de Venecia; y desde 2007 impulsa la Fundación Pablo Atchugarry en Manantiales, espacio dedicado a la formación, la exhibición y la difusión del arte contemporáneo. En 2022 inauguró el Museo MACA, donde se presenta esta exposición.

THREE PATHS, ONE HORIZON

MACA (Atchugarry Museum of Contemporary Art) presents Three Paths, One Horizon, an exhibition bringing together works by Julian Lennon, Eva Claessens and Pablo Atchugarry. The show includes photography, painting and sculpture, and proposes a journey through the artists’ most recent bodies of work.
The three artworks featured on the invitation are visually connected; each image is a detail drawn from a piece included in the exhibition.
The title —and the dialogue between the artworks— conveys a message that is positive, profound, and light. It feels especially meaningful in today’s world, where genuine connection is becoming increasingly rare.
The selected works include photographic landscapes of Uruguay shot by Julian Lennon, paintings and sculptures by Eva Claessens focused on the human figure, connection and the relationship between the self and its surroundings, and sculptures by Pablo Atchugarry in multiple materials. Presented together in one room, the pieces offer a panorama of three contemporary artistic approaches shaped in different contexts and trajectories.
About the protagonists
Julian Lennon (Liverpool, 1963) is a multidisciplinary artist whose field of work includes photography, music, documentary cinema and philanthropy. His incursion into photography saw a formal beginning in 2010 with the Timeless exhibition in New York, followed by showcases across the United States, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. His collection explores the relationship between nature, light and life, with a contemplative and humanist focus. His book, Life’s Fragile Moments (2024), established his photographic production with more than 200 images taken over the past 17 years.
In 2007, he founded The White Feather Foundation, an organization dedicated to education, health, environmental conservation, clean water access, and the protection of Indigenous cultures. He has been recognized by UNESCO as a Peace Laureate (2020).
Eva Claessens (Antwerp, 1971) is a visual artist whose practice includes painting, sculpture, ceramics, and graphic work. Educated at the Scuola delle Belle Arti in Perugia, she has developed a distinctive artistic language centered on connection and the relationship between the self and its surroundings, often expressed through the human figure. Her work captures fleeting emotions—moments suspended in time—where intimacy and presence take form.
Claessens’ practice is marked by a pursuit of spontaneity, lightness, and the unfinished. Her works invite the viewer into a shared space of interpretation, leaving room for the gesture to be completed through perception and emotion.
With a trajectory that includes exhibitions worldwide, Claessens begins each piece through observation of real-life models. She currently divides her time between Uruguay and different countries, maintaining an active and evolving practice across multiple mediums.
Pablo Atchugarry (Montevideo, 1954) is one of the most relevant sculptors of contemporary Latin American art. He has developed his life’s work deeply focused on matter, light and movement, with special dedication to Carrara marble, ever since the seventies. His sculptures —ranging from pieces of intimate scale to monumental works— are part of public and private collections across Europe, America and Asia.
In 2002, he received the Michelangelo prize on Carrara; in 2003, he represented Uruguay at the Venice Biennale; and since 2007, he funds the Pablo Atchugarry Foundation in Manantiales, which is a space dedicated to the formation, exhibition and sharing of contemporary art. In 2022, he inaugurated the MACA Museum, where this exposition will be presented.
